LUDLOW VILLAGE BRIDGE BR#26
NH DECK(49) Ludlow
SUPERSTRUCTURE AND DECK REPLACEMENT OF BRIDGE NO. 26 OVER JEWELL BROOK ON VT-103 IN LUDLOW VILLAGE.
LUDLOW VILLAGE BRIDGE 26 (VAIL BRIDGE)
NH DECK (49)
REPLACE DECK AND SUPERSTRUCTURE ON BRIDGE 26 ON MAIN ST. (VT ROUTE 103) OVER JEWELL BROOK
Project Location: Village of Ludlow in Windsor County on Main St. (VT Route 103) over Jewell Brook. The bridge begins approximately 25 feet west of the southern split of VT 100 and VT 103.
This bridge maintenance project includes replacement of the bridge deck and superstructures. The deck is rated poor, and the superstrucutres, although rated good, will be replaced as the cost of replacement is competitive with stripping, disposing of the lead paint, and repainting the existing superstructures. The substructures are rated satisfactory and will be reused. The substructures will be re-sealed and cracks repaired. New beam seats will be placed to accomodate a new beam configuration. The rehabilitated bridge will feature 12' lanes, 10' shoulders, and sidewalks on both sides to match the existing typical cross section. New concrete/steel combination bridge rails will be installed to look similar to the rails installed on Bridge 25, on Main St. approximately 0.25 miles to the east.
During construction, the bridge will be closed for approximately 21 days, and traffic will be maintained on an off-site detour. Local passenger vehicle traffic is expected to find its way around the closure, while truck traffic will be designated for alternate State routes. Since this is a Town-owned bridge, the Town will be responsible for determining the local detour route. Periodic lane closures outside of the bridge closure period are likely to be used for some construction tasks such as rail construction, paving, line striping, and miscellaneous construction.
