CASTLETON VT-30

STP 0161(35) Castleton

Remediation of rock cut #199 located in Castleton on VT 30, twn mm 4.93 NB.

The Castleton STP 0161(35) project consists of stabilzation of a 220-foot rock cut on the East side of VT Route 30, adjacent to Lake Bomoseen.  Due to rockfall activity and the potentially toppling blocks, the slope is classifed as an "A" ranked slope according to VTrans' Rockfall Hazard System, indicating that rockfall is likely to occur and reach the roadway.

The project work will consist of removing vegetation from the ledge face and top of the slope, hand scaling to remove loose rock material, and stabilization measures including rock dowels, dry-mix steel reinforced shotcrete, and rock drains.

A one-lane closure will be implemented during construction with a temporary signal system installed to control the one-lane alternating traffic.
