WOODFORD VT-9

NH 010-1(51) Woodford

REMOVAL OF LEDGE AND ROCK ALONG VT9 IN WOODFORD, BEGINNING 2.930 MILES EAST OF THE BENNINGTON-WOODFORD TOWN LINE EXTENDING EASTERLY 0.127 MILE.

The Woodford NH 010-1(51) project consists of the stabilization of rockcuts on both the North and South side of VT Route 9.  The North side with be stabilized utilizing blasting techniques and will remove material 30-feet further from the road than the current bottom of the rockcut which will stabilize the slope, greatly improve the catchment area if there are any rockfalls in the future, provide improved storage for winter maintenance, and improved sight distance on this curve.  The South side will be stabilized by performing scaling techniques to remove loose material and by installing rock dowels, rock drains, and shear keys to hold the rock in place.

As there are currently 3-lanes of traffic, one lane will be closed at all times to still maintain two-way traffic though traffic shifts will be required to move away from whichever rockcut is being worked on at the time.  There will be times of stopped traffic during blasting operations and subsequent cleaning of the roadway, if necessary.
