CHESTER-SPRINGFIELD VT-10

STP 2942(1) Chester

RESURFACE VT10 IN CHESTER AND SPRINGFIELD, BEGINNING AT THE VT103 INTERSECTION AND EXTENDING EASTERLY 4.373 MILES TO THE VT106 INTERSECTION.

Project Location: The project begins at the intersection of VT-10 and VT-103 in Chester and extends easterly along VT-10 for approximately 4.341 miles to the intersection of VT-10 and VT-106 in Springfield.

Project Description: Work under this contract will include a pavement preservation technique called Hot In-Place Recycling (HIPR). This process heats the existing asphalt pavement, scarifies the top 1-1/2” and adds in a rejuvenating agent, then replaces the existing material in a reformed, smooth mat. HIPR provides benefit by rejuvenating the viscosity of aging asphalt binder, and well as removing surface cracking and rutting. To complete the process, the roadway will be paved with a 3/4" lift of Bonded Wearing Course to cap the HIPR treated pavement.

In addition to the pavement treatment above, guardrail will be repaired and replaced as necessary to maintain compliance with current standards, and signs along the route will be replaced. Finally, the project will perform some ditching work to aid in drainage throughout the limits.

Note: This project is part of a composite contract with the VT-11 and VT-106 paving projects in Chester and Springfield.
