PLYMOUTH BRIDGE BR#112

ER P23-1(332) Plymouth

Replacement of Bridge #112 (short) on VT 100 in Plymouth at MM 6.789 due to VT23-1. DDIR-D3-VT100-BR112.

Bridge 112 is a State‐owned structure that conveys the Tinker Brook under VT Route 100 in Plymouth, VT. The bridge is located approximately 1.4 miles northwest of the intersection of VT 100 with VT 100A. The existing structure is a corrugated metal plate pipe arch with a clear span of 11 feet and a rise of approximately 7 feet. A post July ‘23 flood inspection of the structure revealed that high flows caused damage to the structural pipe connections that were not evident in the November 2022 structure inspection. The culvert invert is severely deteriorated and a downstream portion of the pipe has settled due to a loss of bedding material under the pipe.

Replacement of the existing culvert  with a box culvert or rigid frame, depending on geotechnical conditions, on alignment matching the existing structure’s skew is the most appropriate, feasible, and resilient solution for this site.
