PLYMOUTH BRIDGE BR#9

ER P23-1(317) Plymouth

Replacement of Bridge #9 on VT 100A in Plymouth at MM 3.976 due to VT23-1. DDIR-D3-VT100A-BR9.

Project Location: Town of Plymouth in Windsor County on VT Route 100A over Pinney Hollow Brook. The bridge is located approximately 3.7 miles north of VT Route 100.

The Plymouth Bridge 9 project involves replacement of the existing single span concrete slab structure. The existing bridge was built in 1984, and has a length of 31 feet. The structure currently has a deck rating of 7 (good), superstructure rating of 7, and substructure rating of 6 (satisfactory). Deck shows some cracking with leakage along center of bridge. Upstream fascia has some spalling and exposed rebar. Abutment 1 has cracking and saturation at the ends. Abutment 2 has spalling on the upstream side with exposed rebar, while the downstream end has a delamination.

Given the age of the structure, site constraints and current conditions, the project will be a full bridge replacement with traffic maintained on an offsite detour. The proposed typical section will include two 11-foot travel lanes with 5-foot shoulders, for a total width of 32-feet. The new bridge with be a prestress concrete solid slab spanning 53-feet.

Closures:

  • VT-100A will be closed at Bridge BR#9 over PINNEY HOLLOW BROOK for 42 days between July 7, 2025 and August 17, 2025.
