MAIDSTONE-STRATFORD, NH BRIDGE BR#1
BO 1447(36) Maidstone
PROJECT IS FOR THE INSPECTION OF BR1 ON THE MAIDSTONE STATE HIGHWAY, OVER THE CONNECTICUT RIVER BETWEEN MAIDSTONE, VT, AND STRATFORD, NH
During a routine bridge inspection a crack was found in a diaganol member of the truss that required the bridge to be closed for safety. A follow-up inspection and evaluation occurred on 8/17/2023 and 8/18/2023. This inspection found no other critical deficiencies and determined the cause of the crack to be a defect in the original steel. VTrans is currently developing a repair for the cracked member and will complete construction and reopen the bridge to traffic as soon as possible. Updated schedule information will be provided in this fact sheet as soon as it becomes available.
