This is a Deck Replacement project for Bridge 56S on Interstate 91 Southbound in Fairlee, at Exit 15.  The project will address a deteriorating deck, which is leaking onto the girders and bearings below, and will replace the expansion joints in the deck.  Portions of the bridge seats will be replaced as well.  The bridge will have new steel bridge rail and approach rail.  Traffic will be maintained on crossovers which put southbound traffic temporarily onto the high speed lane of the northbound bridge.  Construction of the crossovers will begin late summer 2024, and the project will be complete in fall 2025.  No winter work is anticipated, so both lanes of both northbound and southbound bridges will be open over the winter.
