Project Location: The project begins on US-5 in Brattleboro at the Class 1 Town Highway Limit at the intersection of US-5 and Vermont Ave and extends northerly along US-5 for approximately 8.085 miles to MM 0.291 in Putney which is just north of the Putney Landing Road Intersection. Work will also take place within the roundabout and from the roundabout to the New Hampshire state line on VT-9.  It is also worth noting that this project is part of larger contract which includes the Brattleboro NH PC25(5) & STP PC25(6) projects which are part of the Brattleboro Class I Highway System.

Project Description: Work will consist of some areas of course milling the existing pavement to a 2” depth, then placing a 1/2” lift of Type IVS pavement to level the road surface, followed by a 1-1/2” lift of Type IVS pavement as the final wearing surface, or full width leveling with a 1/2" layer of Type IVS, followed by a 1-1/2” lift of Type IVS as the final wearing surface. Additionally, some guardrail work will be performed to repair and replaced damaged sections to bring full runs into compliance with the current standards. The length of the road will be evaluated, and center line rumble strips (CLRS) will be installed where criteria are met. Finally, shoulder berms that have built up will be removed to facilitate better drainage from the road surface, and some ditching work may be performed to further aid in drainage.  The majority of the work in this project will occur during typical night time hours as an effort to minimize impacts to the traveling public.

Project Timeline: Work could begin in the spring months of 2025.  Construction will likely conclude during the summer months of 2026.
