Replacement of MS 701: US 5 & I-91 ACCESS RD in ST. JOHNSBURY and MS 704: US 5 & VT 25 in BRADFORD.

PROJECT LOCATIONS:

Intersection of US Route 5 at VT Route 25 in Bradford.
Intersection of US Route 5 at I-91 Access Road in St. Johnsbury.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is improving these signalized intersection to improve mobility and safety while upgrading obsolete and dysfunctional traffic signal equipment. The project will:

Modernize all traffic signal equipment including: Traffic signal controller, signal heads and support structures, and vehicle detection systems.
Refresh traffic signal-related pavement markings and signing.

Project Milestones

Preliminary Plans: October 17, 2025
Permitting: May 1, 2024
Right-of-Way Clear: Winter 2027
Bid Advertisement: Summer 2027
Contract Award: Fall 2027
Target Construction Schedule: Winter 2027 - Fall 2028
