JAMAICA BRIDGE BR#32

BO 1442(42) Jamaica

Rehabilitate existing Bridge No. 32 (steel thru truss) on TH-19 in Jamaica crossing the West River, with related approach work.

Project Location: Town of Jamaica in Windham County on Town Highway 19 (Depot Street) over West River. The bridge is located approximately 0.4 miles northeast of the intersection with VT Route 100. Depot Street is a dead-end road and provides the only access across the West River to the Jamaica State Park and several residential homes.

The Jamaica bridge 32 project includes the rehabilitation of the existing Single Span Steel Pratt Through Truss. The rehabilitation will improve the current load carrying capacity to a 20T design load.  The existing bridge was built in 1926 and is 172-feet long. The structure currently has a deck rating of 6 (satisfactory), superstructure rating of 6 (satisfactory), and substructure rating of 6 (satisfactory).

Traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge while a new, temporary bridge is installed upstream.  Traffic will be transferred to the temporary bridge will repairs are made to Bridge 32 and once completed, traffic will be returned to truss bridge and the temporary bridge removed.
