CHARLOTTE-SOUTH BURLINGTON US-7

NH PS22(2) Charlotte

Resurfacing along US 7 from Charlotte mm 2.939 to South Burlington mm 1.738.

Project Location: Beginning on US-7 in the Town of Charlotte, at mile marker 2.939 (just south before the intersection of Brown’s Lane/US-7) and extending northernly for 10.203 miles and ending at mile marker 1.738 in South Burlington (the intersection of US-7 and Swift Street).

Project Description: Work will consist of coarse-milling the existing pavement to a 2” depth, then placing a 1/2” lift of Type IVS pavement to level the road surface, followed by a 1-1/2” lift of Type IVS pavement as the final wearing surface. Additionally, some guardrail work will be performed to repair and replaced damaged sections to bring full runs into compliance with the current standards. Shoulder berms that have built up will be removed to facilitate better drainage from the road surface, and some ditching work may be performed to further aid in drainage.

There are 2 traffic signals within the project limits which have been identified for replacement and upgrade due to their age and condition. The signals at Bostwick Rd/US-7will be upgraded with new mast arms and a new controller cabinet with current signal hardware. The signal at Harbor Rd/US-7 will have some infrastructure upgrades to bring the hardware up to current standards.

The corridor will be evaluated for the installation of Centerline Rumble Strips (CLRS). CLRS will be installed where the speed limit is 45 MPH or greater, the pavement width is 14 feet in both directions, and the traffic volume exceeds 1500 vehicles per day. The CLRS will be stopped at Town Highway intersections, and anywhere that a residence falls within 100 feet of centerline. In these cases, the CLRS will be stopped and resumed 100 feet from either corner of the residence.
