Project Location: The intersection of the New England Central Railroad - CN Swanton Subdivision, and VT Route 78 in Alburgh.  Approximate railroad milepost 15.91 (DOT#171-041A), and mile marker 2.768 on VT Route 78.

Phase 1:  The Operating Railroad will reconstruct the crossing including new ties, concrete panels, ballast stone, and rail.  This work will be completed in the summer of 2024 under a 24-hour road closure on a Sunday that will include a detour onto US Route 2 and Interstate 89.  Specific closure date TBD.

Phase 2:  VTrans will design and procure approach pavement improvements.  This will include paving the rail crossing approaches on Route 78, as well as signs and line updates.  This work will be completed in the summer of 2025 under phased lane closures.
