RICHMOND-BOLTON US-2

STP 2924(1) Richmond

RESURFACE US2 IN RICHMOND AND BOLTON, BEGINNING AT THE WILLISTON-RICHMOND TOWN LINE AND EXTENDING EASTERLY 8.239 MILES.

Project Location: The project begins on US Route 2 at approximately the Paquette Full of Posies farm stand in Richmond and will extend east to a point approximately halfway between Notch Road and the Bolton Access Road in Bolton.

Project Description: The project will remove the existing asphalt pavement to the full width of the existing roadway down to the surface of the existing concrete slab. The slabs will then be removed and a new subbase will be constructed. Upon completion of the new subbase, a new, engineered pavement structure will be placed.

Existing shoulders will be modified to a consistent width, where feasible, to accommodate bicyclists. Additional work will include the replacement and maintenance of existing guardrail runs, some culvert replacements, ditching and center line rumble strip (CLRS) installations where criteria have been met. Finally, signs along the corridor will be replaced and upgraded to meet current standards set in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

Additionally, traffic signal improvements will be constructed on existing signals.

Construction Impacts: A portion of this project, from VT-117 to the bridge just east of Richmond Village, will be constructed during the overnight hours due to high traffic volumes. Additionally, there is a planned single overnight closure of US-2 to accommodate drainage replacements in the Village of Richmond.

During Construction, drivers can expect changing traffic control packages and driving surfaces as the concrete slabs are removed. Please remain patient and alert to these changing conditions.
