REALIGNMENT OF THE VT17/EAST ST. (TH22 & TH18) INTERSECTION IN NEW HAVEN, AND ELIMINATION OF THE VT17/TH19 INTERSECTION.
Project Location: VT Route 17 in the Town of New Haven, from approximately 500 feet west of the intersection with East St. to approximately 800 feet east of the intersection with Sawyer Rd.
Project Description: Work will consist of full reconstruction of VT Route 17 through the project site including the realignment of East St. into a "T" intersection and reconstructing Sawyer Rd. Improvements will include roadway widening, modifying the elevation of the road to improve sight distance, installing new culverts and other drainage features, new guardrail, signs, pavement and associated markings.
Traffic Impacts: Work will be performed in phases to maintain two-way traffic flow and minimize impacts to traffic. An onsite temporary diversion road will be installed to detour traffic during the major reconstruction of VT Route 17. Short-term closures of East Street and Sawyer Road will be required for the reconstruction of the two local roads and detours will be in place.
